LAUGHTER

Laughter – such a simple thing yet it is so good for the soul.

It signifies that you are enjoying something or someone, but it also has health benefits too. Yes, we’ve all heard the saying that laughter is the best medicine, and it truly is. It can help boost your immune system, it can help relieve stress or pain. It makes you feel good, aids circulation and it’s contagious (in a good way). I’ve even had some really good belly laughs just from hearing someone else laughing.

I always enjoy moments with friends and family when we all sit and laugh together. Whether it be from a friend’s sarcastic jokes, Mila’s silly dances or singing around the house or even laughing at myself in ridiculous moments or predicaments. Who wouldn’t?

The pictures I posted for this post are from 2 very different but extremely happy moments.  The first was from my baby shower.  I was filled with such joy and happiness because my wish finally came true – I was finally having a baby.  No more negative pregnancy tests, no more doctor appointments being poked and probed daily, and it was finally my turn to be filled with pure happiness from my bundle of joy.  The fact that someone captured this moment is even more special.  I always look back at it as a reminder that laughter can still come after a lot of pain.

The second photo was taken on a girl’s trip to Bahamas.  The photo quality isn’t the best but it speaks volumes to me which is why I hold on to this and keep it close to my heart.  You have to understand what isn’t shown in that picture.  During that time things were so hard at home for not only me but others on that trip and even the trip itself wasn’t what we had hoped for.  We had 4 days of rain and super cold weather and maybe saw the sun for a full 30 minutes if that, but you can’t tell from this photo because the amount of laughter we shared on that vacation was more than we could have imagined and will be burned in my memory for a lifetime.  It was a release of the difficulties and pain we were experiencing back home and just living in this beautiful moment.  We were being silly, sure we were a little tipsy but most importantly we were just there for each other when we needed it most.  To laugh, to cry, to celebrate the little wins and the big wins. For just a few days we didn’t have to worry about anything and just enjoyed the company.  I wish everyone had the opportunity for those breaks or reprieves from their hardships and worries even if only for a moment because those are the little boosts your mind and heart need. They can push you through that rough spot and keep you going forward.  At least that is what has helped me.

So, seeing as life is as tough as it regularly is, we need to savour those moments filled with laughter.  Be silly with your kids, your partner or spouse. Put on a good standup comedy and enjoy the humour, have a good night out with friends where you can let loose, share in some good conversation and laughter together, or even better if it’s possible find the funny in a moment that is hard. Sometimes things are laughable then too if you really look at it.  I promise you it will be so incredibly good for your heart and soul, and it doesn’t cost a thing.

Wishing you all moments of joy and laughter today and every day my friends.

😊 LM
