Has anyone else started feeling the shift in weather already? The little chill and dip in the evening air that is getting us prepared for the change that is about to come? A little warning or reminder if you will. Wouldn’t that be helpful with not only season changes but with life changes too? Or maybe we do have those?
I’ve been working on many things in my life as I rebuild and the one thing I find myself repeating is that I am always looking for a signal or sign to let me know I’m doing the right thing or making the right decisions. A little warning or green light to help make the transition or decisions a little easier. Sometimes I get them and other times I don’t and that’s ok too. It’s all part of my journey and I am taking it all one step at a time.
Seasons change, as do we as humans and I’m sure if you sit and really reflect on your life you too can pinpoint your “season” changes as well. You had your season as a baby, a toddler, a teen and young adult. You have your season of change from single life to married life or from being responsible for just yourself to becoming a parent. Some people have made career changes or even moved to another city or country. All of these changes are stepping stones to growing and becoming the person you are today or even to the person you are striving to become. There are seasons of change that you loved and some that maybe you aren’t so happy with but ultimately, it’s still part of your path and you have grown and blossomed through each stage. It can be scary but also exciting. It can be super hard but rewarding too. On most days I try my very best to look at it all as being a good thing and I adapt to the seasonal life changes as best I can, even if some days I may not want any changes at all.
The one important thing to remember is just like the seasons, your current phase or situation will change and it won’t be forever. Embrace what you can and let go of what you need to. As each season changes try to reflect on what was great and what you’ve learned and as the next season begins try to shed whatever doesn’t serve you and bloom and blossom with the new one that is about to begin.
So as this summer season slowly transitions and if it has been a particularly difficult season for you personally, I hope that you take this next seasonal change in stride and I will leave you with this quote by Saru Singhal that really resonated with me:
“To survive, do what seasons do – change”
